How Can Faculty and TA's Print Using Departmental Funds?

A faculty member may ask their Departmental Admin to purchase or authorize the purchase of a Copy Card or Pro Card from the U Card Office for that purpose. It can be used among faculty members of that Dept. or each faculty member may have his or her own (depending on the Dept., the funds available, and the rules each Dept. has determined.)

If they want more information, try referring them to the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk.

****New Changes****

We now have two new updated UCard Machines!  They take both the old and new UCard.  Both machines are located on the Lower Level.  One replaced the original machine and the other is on the left pillar at the bottom of the stairs, the staircase furthest from the Info Desk.  (The machine located on 5 has been removed.)

Just a reminder about UCard machines.  You can purchase a Guest UCard as well as add money to a regular UCard from this machine.  It only takes cash and does not give change!

The old machines were called Value Transfer Stations, these new machines are called CBord Value Ports. 

Can staff members use their "copy code" on our copiers/printers?

No. Our copiers and printers only take UCard or Guest Cards.

UPDATE!

All the photocopiers in the building ONLY take UCard or Guest Cards! They no longer accept change and small bills.

****New Changes**** Overnight Building Access

Starting at midnight on Monday, January 28th, 2008 patrons will have to swipe their UCard to get in to the Library from midnight to 7am. So only people with UMass UCards will be able to come in to the Library between midnight and 7am. If someone is in the Library before midnight who does not have a UMass UCard they will be able to stay in the Library. However if they leave they will not be able to re-enter the building until 7am. (I don't think we will get too many questions about this at the desk but thought you should know.)

This is only when the library is open 24/5.

Do the printers only take UCard or Guest UCards?

Yes. You can NOT print with cash.

Someone had a problem with the UCard she purchased, where should I have sent her?

If someone has a problem with the UCard machine you should send them to the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk. They will call the UCard Office for the patron and try to fix the problem without the person having to go to the office in Whitmore if they can.

Do any of the copiers/printers take cash instead of UCard?

ALL of the copiers and printers in the building ONLY take UCard.

Is there somewhere in the Library that you can directly put money on your UCard, or do we just have the guest card machines located on Main?

The UCard machine that is on the Lower Level of the Library (aka Learning Commons) can be used for both. You can purchase a Guest UCard from the machine but it can also be used to add money to your UCard (staff or student) or Guest UCard. You can use it just to get a balance on your account too.  Don't forget though it does not give change! What you put in the machine is what you get. It only takes cash, no coin or credit card.

Can you photocopy if you are a student from one of the other four colleges?

Anyone can photocopy! All of the copiers work off of a UCard or Guest UCard. Anyone without a UCard can purchase one from the UCard machine located in the Learning Commons.

Is there an emergency card where someone can still print if they lost her own UCard?

There is no emergency card, the patron could purchase a Guest UCard if they don't have their UCard on them. They get a Guest UCard from the UCard machine in the Learning Commons.

Are there Guest Print Cards if a UCard is lost?

Yes!!! You can ONLY print or copy in this building with a UCard or Guest Card. If a patron does not have a UCard but needs to print they can purchase a Guest UCard from a vending machine in the Learning Commons. If the person needs help they can ask at the LC Desk downstairs.
