Does the Library offer E-Books like the ones for the Kindle and Nook?

If you get any e-book questions I would direct them to the LC Desk.  We get different subscriptions through different companies and they all work differently. 

What do you do if a UMass E-Book is Not Functioning?

If someone clicks on "UMass:Connect to the title" to access an e-book and it brings you to a page that reads, Document Unavailable or does not come up.  Please write down the name of the book and author.  I can then let the people who deal with the catalog know so they can fix it.

Is it possible for a UMass student to access e-books from other UMass schools (like Lowell)?

They could access the e-books if they go to Lowell or another UMass library to view them.  However they can't view them remotely. 

This is similar to e-books in the 5 College Catalog.  You (UMass student) could go to Amherst to view an e-book but you can't do it remotely.

Do patrons who are not affiliated to the University but are Massachusetts residents have access to online books or e-journals from their home?

No, patrons must be either a current student, staff or faculty of the University. Basically anyone with a valid IT account which they will need to enter when they are trying to access these materials remotely. State borrowers can only take out print materials. They would have to use Library computers to view on line material. 

E-Books are only accessible on campus right? -DO

All E-Books are accessible from anywhere someone can get to the internet, they will however be prompted for their IT account information at some point in the process.

Can you access E-Books from places other than the Library?

Yes! You can access E-Books from home with an IT account (IT username and password.) If someone needs help with E-Books they can speak to someone at the LC Desk.
