ILL items can be picked up at the Science and Engineering Library

Items requested using ILL can be picked up at the Science and Engineering Library.  They do need to do something to their accounts to allow this to happen.  If patrons are interested in this, please send them to Circulation or Reference for more information.

The Science Library on campus will no longer be called the Integrated Sciences and Engineering Library (ISEL) but will be called the Science and Engineering Library (SEL).

Lots of questions about Lederle Library...is library in tower or building? -Jackie

The Science and Engineering Library is located in the Lederle Graduate Research Center, the lowrise. The entrance is located on the 2nd floor (one floor above the IT offices).

Why are some Science books in this Library but other ones are in the Science Library? -Jena

Basically it is just because the Science Library is smaller and does not have as much space. So we tend to have some of the older science periodicals and books. We also keep all of the Science Reserves because we have longer hours.

If the call # says UM /Science Periodicals, does that mean it is in Lederle? -Jena

If the call number says UM/Science it is located in the science library on campus. But be sure to check the information in the record well, sometimes we keep the older part of the periodical here and the recent years over at SEL (Science and Engineering Library). If unsure send the patron to the LC Desk before you send them across campus.

Are all the science books in Lederle, or are there some in this Library?

We have science books in both. Because the Science and Engineering Library is smaller they do sometimes keep the older issues here. It will tell you in the card catalog where we keep items. If it says UM W.E.B. Du Bois it is in this building. If it says UM Science it is in the Science and Engineering Library in Lederle. The Print Reserve materials are all located in this building.

What other Libraries are there and where are they located?

There are now two Library Locations. You are sitting in one them...the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. This Library holds materials in the social sciences, nursing, some agriculture, and humanities. It also has the Special Collections and Archives, Law, Government Documents, Maps, the Digital Scholarship Center (formerly the Image Collection Library) Music Materials (formerly the Music Library) and the East Asian Collection.

The other big Library is the Science and Engineering Library over in Lederle Graduate research Center (the lowrise) entrance on Floor 2. The Library has materials for biological sciences, agriculture, geology, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, computer science, polymer science, food technology, wood technology, and all fields of engineering.
