How many stairs are there in the building?

I counted the stairs from the Basement to Floor 28 in the East and West Stairwell.  There are 510 stairs in each stairwell. The monuments stairs on the east side of the building bring the number up to 625!

Interesting Factoid!

I had a patron ask me how many stairs were in the building. I called Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) and the answer is...625. This figure is from the absolute bottom in the basement to the caged area on 27. Wow friends with that at your next party!

Where are the stairs and where do they go?

There are two main stairwells. The West Stairwell can be reached by going through the double doors next to the New Book Shelf and then taking the doors to your right. The East Stairwell can be reached by going through the double doors on the pond side of the lobby and then taking the doors on your left. These stairs go to every floor in the building.

What stairs go up to the 26th Floor?

There are three sets of stairs in the building (not counting the two that go from E to the LC.) There is the east and west stairwells that go all the way from the basement to the 26th Floor. They can be found across from the fire exit doors on the west and east side of the building. There is also what is referred to as the monument stairs, these only go from E to Floor 5.
