If making a phone call from the desk phone what number do you dial?

If you are making an on campus phone call dial the last 5 digits of the phone number. If dialing off campus you will need to dial 9 and then the last 7 digits of the phone number.

If you ever see the red message light on the phone blinking it means there's a message. Let a supervisor know so that they can take it.

If you need to call beyond the 5 digit on campus phone number, dial 9 first. So it is 9 and then the last 7 digits of the phone number. You can not make long distance calls from this phone. 

What should I do if I see a blinking red light on the phone where it appears there is message?

It means that someone has left a message on the voicemail. Let the supervisors know!

Answering the Information Desk phone

When you answer the Information Desk phone please make sure you either say "Library Information" or "Information Desk" and your name. This will make the caller know that they are calling the right place. Do not just say "Hello" because people may feel they have the wrong number.

If staff are calling to report a problem in the building, take a detailed message with their name, their location, the problem they are reporting, and a date/time so we know when it came in if you leave your shift before seeing us. If it is serious enough, radio the supervisors immediately.
