What do I do if someone is looking for an article or journal online?

If anyone has a question regarding articles they really need to be sent to the LC Desk for Reference and Research Assistance. Reading the records for databases and e-journals can be tricky and difficult to read. Send them to the professionals.

Do you know of any travel books in the Library?

I know that we do not have travel books in this library but not many. The Jones Library, the Amherst town library has a lot more.
They really should go down to the LC Desk for assistance with any question about things that may or may not be in our collection.

Where would you find scholarly Journals for research projects?

If people are looking for scholarly journals for research projects send them to the LC Desk for Reference and Research Assistance. Most likely if they are just beginning a research project they are going to need assistance. If you just send them to randomly look through journals (also known as periodicals) they will probably not find what they need.

Can you take out Dictionaries?

Yes. We have some dictionaries in the stacks that people can check out. If people are looking for dictionaries the best place to send them is to the LC Desk to get a Reference Librarian to help them, searching for dictionaries can be tricky and confusing.

Note saying Spanish Literature 11th Floor, ?

There was a note taped on the desk that said "Spanish Literature 11th Floor." If someone comes looking for Spanish Literature the best place to send them is to the Reference Desk. It is true that you could find Spanish Literature on the 11th Floor but that may not be the only place. Plus when I do a subject search for "Spanish Literature" I get 254 options, yikes! With that much someone who goes upstairs just to look will probably end up coming down to get more help.
Plus often times when someone approaches the desk they seem to have a simple question but what they really want is more specific. Send them to the Professionals, they want the business!
