Do we have Windows 7 installations for student PCs?

I am not sure, but I would send them down to the IT staff at the LC Desk for an answer.  If we do they will have all of the details.

Someone called and asked how he could research a room to teach in, where should I send him?

This is a bit tricky. If they want a classroom with a Librarian for library instruction they can call the LC  Desk at 577-1272 or visit the desk in person. If they need a room with computers (but no library instruction) they can call IT at 413-577-0762 or email Marta Pluta at mpluta@oit.umass.edu.

Update on IT Daily Classroom Schedules

We get the IT Daily Classroom Schedules weekly on Thursday for the whole week. Don't forget to put them in the top right drawer of the desk. (This is also the "Sign Holders" drawer) Attention weekend students: We are also now getting schedules for Saturday and Sunday! So if you open any day of the week don't forget to change the IT sign. Thanks!

Update on IT Daily Classroom Schedule

On Thursdays we will receive the IT Daily Classroom Schedules for a week. They should be put in the "Sign Holder" drawer, top right drawer in the desk. If you open the desk it is your job to put the new IT Daily Classroom Schedule for that day up and recycle the previous day's schedule. There will be no schedules printed for the weekend as there are no classes. In this case the person on Saturday should make sure the sign from Friday is recycled.

A student asked me: "Do any of the IT computers have a program named "Mathcat" on them?"

Check here...Software on all IT Machines (Pay attention to Operating System!)  If you don't see it listed there send them to the LC and Technical Support Desk downstairs.

Can other students from the 5-Colleges get on the internet?

Short answer, no. You need an Eduroam account to access the wireless on campus. It is possible for a 5-College student to have an account if they are taking a class at UMass that gives them a SPIRE login. If they don't have access they must log in as a public user  on the computers in the LC if they want to use the Internet.

What computers have the SPFS program on them? How could we tell? - D.O.

https://www.umass.edu/it/classrooms/software has a list of all IT computer on campus and what software they have. you can also search by the software name.

Where is the IT office?

The IT main offices are located in the Lederle Graduate Research Center. But there is IT Classroom and Help Desk staff located at the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk downstairs. Send people who want IT help down there first. In most cases they will be able to help them without you sending someone across campus.

Is there an IT desk in the Library that will help fix computers?

At the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk there are IT staff there. They can answer questions regarding Spire, UMail, and much more. They can help people who are having trouble with accessing wireless and help check out their laptops. However if someone is having trouble with their PC or more hardware issues there is somewhere in Lederle that can help with that. The IT Hardware Support Department. They are located in A22 LGRC (in the basement), phone is 413-545-2036 and there hours are 9 am - 5 pm M-F.

Printing is now available from the IT computers downstairs!!!

There are IT printers located in the Learning Commons North Side, near the Calipari Room, and between the two large staircases along the brick pillars.

Does the IT credit work for the copiers?

No, the IT credit only works for printing.
