Understanding the "Due Date" in the card catalog?

When you look up a book in the card catalog it will list "Item Status", "Due Date", "Location" and "Call Number". You always want to pay attention to what is listed under "Due Date" because sometimes someone can't find the book upstairs according to the call number because of the reasons below. People also need to look at "Location" carefully because the item could be at another of the 4-Colleges or someplace like Reserve or Reference.

If it says "Available" then the book should be here according to the Location.
If it says "Due 06-05-11" this date shown is when the book is due back.*
*If the current date is after the due date shown it just means the person who has the book is ignoring the due date.
If it says "Recently Returned" the book has been returned in the last 24 hours.
If it says "Missing" then the book can't be found.
If it says "Claimed Returned" it means the patron says they brought it back but we can't find it.
If it says "Billed-Paid" it means that the person did not return the book and has paid for it.
If it says "Billed-Not Paid" it means that the person has not returned the book or paid the fine.
If it says "In Repair" it is getting repaired either inside or outside the building.
If it says "On Search" it means that a staff member is looking for it per a patrons request.
If it says "Hold" or "Holdshelf" it is being held for someone who requested it.

Unless someone gets the "Due Date" of "Available" or "Recently Returned" they may want to see where else they could get a copy of the item they are looking for.
